J.D. Oborn is an Iraq War veteran who served with HHB 1/148th Field Artillery Battalion of the Idaho National Guard. After his tour in Iraq, J.D. pursued his college education at Idaho State University before transferring to Weber State in Ogden, Utah where he graduatedsumma cum laude with a bachelor's degree in political science. He then attended law school at Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. He graduated cum laude in 2013.
After graduating law school, J.D. and his wife, Ashlynn Hayden Oborn, packed up their two small children and headed back home to Idaho. J.D. started his legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable David C. Nye in the Sixth Judicial District. He then accepted his current position as an associate attorney position with Cooper & Larsen, Chartered.
In his first two years of practice, J.D. has second chaired three jury trials and a court trial. He recently was part of a team of lawyers that successfully settled a car accident case for $1.5 million for his client. He is a trained Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and provides free legal representation to CASA volunteers that advocate for abused and neglected children.
